India is the most wonderful country to visit.

With a cultural diversity that varies from region to region, and breathtakingly different geography, you can travel from the Himalayas to the backwaters of Kerala and only have scratched the surface of this extraordinary place. If you have any desire to see India, you’ll love it.

I love it so much it has turned into a lifelong passion. The award-winning tours I create are about sharing the food, the textiles, the secret corners, and great hotels.

“India, for me, is all about the people. I enjoy the humour and the conversation, the nuggets of cultural difference that make the world small and large at the same time.

I love the warmth we find. Indians are the most hospitable people on our planet. If you travel consciously and thoughtfully, I believe our presence as tourists can make a positive difference.”

Ali’s Tours

Where have we been?

We’ve been in Rajasthan visiting the shimmering sands and the rose pink, sky blue, fortified cities. We’ve met camel herders, drunk chai with sadhus, dipped our fingers in the holy Ganges at Varanasi.

We’ve walked through virgin biospheres in the beautiful Nilgiri Hills of South India, eaten idli and sambal and giant prawns in the ancient trading port of Kochi, bamboo rafted with tribal guides our way across the Periyar Reservoir. We’ve met salt panners in the Little Rann of Kutch, fortune tellers in Orchha, and what felt like all of India’s sadhus at the largest Hindu gathering on earth.

There’s been tea in Kolkata on a tea planters lawn, lime soda at the High Range Club of Munnar, and mango ice cream in Ahmedabad.

We’ve block-printed Ajrakh in Ajrakphur, seen the Milky Way in Ladakh, tried our hand at Bhandari tie-dye in Devpur, stayed in palaces, tented camps and homestays. Been under canvas in a rainstorm in Pushkar. Relaxed by the pool. Read our books. Sketched the Western Ghats.

Enjoyed India.

“Our trip to Ladakh certainly outstripped our expectations - Ali’s energy and engagement with everyone she encounters opened up opportunities few would discover, from finding a pashmina goat herder in a remote valley and ending up in his tent for tea, to blagging our way into the VIP tent at the maddest polo match you are likely to find. Add in her desire to make tourism work for the local community and you feel much more in tune with the communities you visit.

Put it all together and an Ali Warner Travel trip will leave you with memories of not just monasteries and mountains but a sense of people and place - if you have any sense of adventure you should give it a go!” Chris G, 2024

Where are we going next?

We’re just been to the Western Himalayas to meet nomads and weave with pashmina, we’re going back to beloved Kutch for textiles, and are heading down south to the ever-beautiful Kerala for houseboats and over to Chettinad for our cooking skills. Ladakh was such a success we’re working our way back up to the mountains via the Kullu Valley for Himachali weaving, a spot of glamping, and finally Leh for artisan pashmina weaving. Assam is on the list for tea, planters, and visiting the monks on Majuli Island before it erodes into the Bhramaputra. Talking of which, I’m working on a Bhramaputra River Cruise, with Kaziranga rhinos, possibly a river dolphin, and meditative river travel.

My passion is for slow, interesting tours, where I travel with you all the way, and the itineraries are fresh and stimulating. Based around culture, food and textiles, I’m also a pro photographer so there’s help here too.

“Ali’s tours are a delight. Quick to find what we need (intellectually and physically), Ali makes India seem like an old friend. Book up while you can.

We’re coming back.” FW, 2022.

‘Thoughtful tours with delightful hotels, these are wonderful holidays supported by Ali’s easygoing, cheerful manner. She runs these excellent trips with a nonchalance that hides a lot of hard work and an amazingly deep knowledge of India. Hugely recommended.” AC, 2021
